Dan Olson’s chanel Folding Ideas has some excellent media criticism content (including the ridiculously indepth analysis of the 50 Shades series) but this video about the Flat earth conspiracy is a very comprehensive take on the psychological motivations behind the movement. With criticism and compassion, he outlines the path that takes people down such rabbit holes.

The video is framed around a hike in which Olson seeks to prove the earth is round. While parsing some really dense knowledge, he also builds an incredible metaphor that brought a tear to my eye. He illustrates exactly how flat earthers (and other conspiracists) abhor chaos and uncertainty, while still showcasing just how beautiful that chaos is. This essay is complex, but it moves me every time. A+++++
