Feels Good Man (2020) 🐸✏️💻

Feels Good Man is an indie documentary about Pepe the Frog and how the cartoon evolved from the underground comic Boy’s Club into the wildly popular alt-right meme. Artist Matt Furie struggles to regain control of his own design as internet trolls co-opt the stoner frog to push their nefarious agendas. It’s a really vibrant film, full of gorgeous animations and colourful characters, and director Arthur Jones does a good job of talking about internet culture without falling into the trap of explaining how the internet works (looking at you, Don’t Fuck With Cats). If you’re fascinated/horrified by the evolution of incel culture, gamergate, and ultimately the alt-right’s popularity, this is a really good documentary that deep dives into one piece of that wild internet puzzle.
