Nothing says 90’s thriller like the presence of ASHLEY JUDD and her excellently shaped eyebrows!

Kiss the Girls was released in 1997. This was pre-CSI, and once the massive trend of crime procedurals hit the TV airwaves, movies like this kinda dried up. It does feel like watching an extended episode of Criminal Minds, but the ending is great, they shoot up a carton of milk for reasons, you can’t go wrong! Two years later, Judd stared in the thriller Double Jeopardy. After being convicted of her husband’s murder, she embarks on a quest to clear her name, and uncovers a SHOCKING secret 😱. This one also ends with guns and shooting. Fun!

There is something so soothing to me about this era of popcorn thrillers. TV procedurals weren’t yet the massive franchise hit they would become in a couple years. CGI is still too expensive for movies like this, and the internet is present enough to help with some plot points, but not nearly universal enough to destroy the sense of intrigue. The pacing is wild too, these movies take their time setting up characters and atmosphere in ways that don’t exist anymore in mainstream movies.
